ISO Volunteer Coordinator
Many people volunteer to help out at the food pantry and/or community dinners. We don't always do a great job of keeping track of new volunteers. Would you like to help with that? We're looking for a Volunteer Coordinator to contact and keep track of people who express interest, pass their names on to those in charge of activities that might be a good match, and follow up to see what happened. All this needs to be recorded in a clear, accurate and retrievable way, preferably in a spreadsheet or database. The volunteer coordinator may also field requests from organizers needing help, and prepare blurbs describing open positions for Facebook and our website. This is a new role for us and we're very open to feedback from the new coordinator. If you'd like to discuss further, please use the Contact link or leave a message at 781-275-7355. Thanks!
Can you help sort food on May 11?
The nationwide USPS Help Stamp Out Hunger food drive is coming up on Saturday,May 11. There are two ways to help us on that day:
1) Leave nonperishable, unexpired food in or near your mailbox for your letter carrier to pick up.
2) (This is the one we're really interested in!) Come to the food pantry (12 Mudge Way, Bedford) any time between 1:30 and 6:00 to sort and store the donations as they come in.
Food drives provide needed food, but they also create a lot of work. Please take a few hours and stop by to help!
Assistance for federal workers affected by the shutdown
We’re happy to help any federal employees during the shutdown. Just come by 12 Mudge Way (downstairs) with your government ID between 4:30 and 6:00 any Thursday, and take home free groceries. No need to register as a pantry client. We also offer a free dinner to all at 5:00 Thursdays.
Make our holidays merry at the Paper Store
Our friends at The Paper Store in Bedford, Billerica, Burlington and Chelmsford are running this nice fundraiser for us on Friday-Sunday, 11/23-25. Many thanks to them and to all who pick up this ornament!
Call for homemade pies
Let the bakers in your life know--we will be accepting donations of homemade pies for our Thanksgiving Pantry on Sunday, November 18, 12:00-2:00 downstairs at Town Center, 12 Mudge Way. Please no cream pies, due to food safety concerns.
