No food pantry or dinner on Thanksgiving
Our volunteers will be taking a well-deserved break this Thursday, 11/24, to enjoy Thanksgiving with their families. Best wishes to all!
10th Annual Turkey Trot coming up November 24
Coming right up, our biggest fun- and fund-raiser of the year, the 10th annual Turkey Trot, sponsored by Bedford Florist. Held Thanksgiving morning, the Turkey Trot is a 5k run/2k walk that starts and ends at John Glenn Middle School in Bedford. Last year smashed our previous records for participation and donations, with nearly 400 people raising over $10,000 to support the Bedford Food Pantry. Be part of the fun this year! Online registration is available now at https://racesonline.com/events/bedford-turkey-trot. Fee is $25 per person until 11/20, and $30 on the day of the race. More details available at https://www.facebook.com/events/660636197426751/.
Thanksgiving pantry coming 11/21
Our traditional Thanksgiving pantry will be held Monday, November 21, from 4:00 to 6:00. It takes the place of our usual Thursday pantry that week. Participants in the Thanksgiving pantry will receive a frozen turkey and ingredients for classic side dishes and gravy. We will accept sign-ups at the 11/3 and 11/10 pantries. Requests must be made in person at the pantry, not over the phone or through the website. Undistributed turkeys may be available to clients not on the sign-up list, starting at 5:30 on the 21st.
USPS Letter Carriers' Food Drive is May 14--Help!
Every year the USPS Letter Carriers' "Stamp Out Hunger" Food Drive brings us many hundreds of pounds of food. We love the support, but it's always a challenge to cope with the deluge. If you're available on Saturday, May 14 from 1:00-6:00 (or any portion thereof), please come to the Food Pantry and help us sort through the bounty. If you're interested, let us know by using the website Contact form, or leaving a message at 781-275-7355. Many thanks!
Thanks, Job Lane Elementary School!
We wish to extend our thanks to all the students and their parents of Job Lane Elementry School for another successful Super Bowl food drive. On Thursday, March 24, Keith Kinney, Assistant Principal, along with Mr. and Mrs. Venuti, loaded up the Bedford Farms truck and delivered 3,500 non perishable food items to the pantry. This was the largest Super Bowl food drive ever, and we want to extend special thanks to the students who took the time to sort the items into cartons.
